- A COMPETITION ORGANISED BY JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT ROMÂNIA -

The event took place on 16th October 2013. The competition brought together 15 high schools with 21 teams fighting for one of the three finalist spots. "Ovidius" High School was represented by three teams coached by teachers Mr. Victor Mihalaşcu and Mrs. Sorina Leu.

The event is the first in a series of four which runs from October to November, the following events are in Iasi, Bucharest and Brasov. The competition is organized by Junior Achievement Romania in partnership with Raiffeisen Bank and part of the financial education programme for high school students "ABCdar bancar" (Banking ABC). Also, participating teams received support from 7 business volunteers from Raiffeisen Bank.

Technology is constantly evolving, and fast. We have it in everything around us: mobiles, tablets, gadgets. The participating students designed an innovative application that would facilitate the management of the family budget. Knowledge of economy and technology, and entrepreneurship have helped in the implementation of ideas and detailed design of the functionality of such applications. The competition was fierce, but the participants presented the project confidently. Their skills in speaking in front of a large audience, and ways to capture attention were crucial in presenting ideas to a prestigious jury. Evaluation criteria consisted in the efficiency of the application, its presentation and the innovation that it brings to technology.

The day full of inspiration, creativity and excitement ended with awards. First place went to the team consisting of "Ovidius" High School students: Bălaşa Mara, Ceapă Delia, Andrei Creţu, Mihai Grigore and Cristea Cătălin. The third place went to the team made up of Teodora Avram, Macarie Oana, Andra Maftei, Manafu Marius and Roman Ştefan. Both winning teams included grade 11 students and were coordinated by Mr. Victor Mihalaşcu, and they will participate in the national finals, which will take place in the second semester of the school year.

We believe that the steps that will follow will prove once more the creativity and the entrepreneurial qualities that our school thrives to develop in its students each and every year.
